“Ilive in Brooklyn. By choice,” wrote Truman Capote when such a choice needed to be justified. The year was 1959, the essay was “A House on the Heights,” and the neighborhood was Brooklyn Heights.

Today, choosing to live near Capote’s former address—70 Willow—is hardly a choice but rather an induction into the hall of fame of those who’ve claimed it as home. This means that when one of its addresses hits the market, it makes headlines.

The 26-foot wide townhouse, built in 1829.
19 Cranberry, aka the Moonstruck house, and possibly one of the most famous addresses in Brooklyn Heights, is one such address. The grande dame of Cranberry Street was built in 1829 in the Federal style. Though it’s called the Moonstruck house, it’s really the facade, and the romantic promenade it faces, that’s famous. Inside, it doesn’t look like the comfortable multigenerational home depicted in the film. It was purchased in 2022 for $12.25 million by Amy Schumer—the comedian and actor probably best known for Trainwreck—and husband Chris Fischer. Now, it’s back on the market, this time for $14 million.
